Partendo da Mare, frazione di San Pietro di Cadore, seguiamo la Statale verso Sappada (circa 800 m.) fino al ponte che attraversa il Piave che ci porta a salire verso Val Visdende. Raggiunto l’altopiano si prosegue per Pra Marino affiancando la Chiesa della Madonna della Neve.
Si svolta ancora a sinistra in direzione di Forcella Zovo che raggiungeremo dopo una bella salita su strada quasi interamente asfaltata. Appena dopo la forcella troveremo il bel Rifugio Forcella Zovo.
Proseguiremo sulla destra e su strada ampia ora sterrata, con qualche tratto un pochino fangoso nell’ultimo tratto, a causa dei lavori boschivi necessari a sistemare i danni causati alla tempesta Vaia , ma anche dalle forti nevicate dell’inverno scorso, raggiungiamo il bivio per raggiungere, poco più in alto, la cima del Monte Zovo da dove potremo spaziare ed ammirare un panorama incredibile. Possiamo vedere il Monte Peralba e scorgere una parte di Sappada, i Brentoni e le Dolomiti di Sesto, vediamo Casamazzagno e tutta la costa della spina con il Quaternà, le crode dei Longerin e molto altro.
Scendiamo infine, tornando al bivio precedente, verso il Rifugio De Doo, superando la cucinetta che ha visto sostare Papa Giovanni Paolo II.
Dopo una meritata pausa rifocillante al Rifugio, scendiamo per strada asfaltata fino a Costa e proseguiamo sulla sinistra per percorrere la strada Panoramica del Comelico attraversando Costa, Costalissaio e Costalta dove facciamo una piccola deviazione verso la strada che risale verso forcella Zovo per ammirare i bellissimi fienili, le baite e le sculture lignee esposte lungo il percorso. Passeremo anche a fianco al Museo Etnografico Casa Angiul Sai.
Proseguiamo infine con una bella discesa a tornanti fino a San Pietro e raggiungiamo Mare dove ritroveremo la Statale e, subito dopo il ponte che attraversa il Piave,il nostro punto di partenza.

Starting out from Mare, a hamlet of San Pietro di Cadore, we follow the state road towards Sappada (about 800 m) to the bridge crossing the Piave River, which takes us up towards Val Visdende. Having reached the plateau, we continue towards Pra Marino, passing the Church of the Madonna della Neve.
We turn left again in the direction of Forcella Zovo, which we will reach after a fine climb on an almost entirely asphalted road. Just after the saddle we will find the beautiful Forcella Zovo hut.
We will continue to the right and on a wide road, now unpaved, with some stretches that are a little muddy in the last stretch, due to the forestry work needed to repair the damage caused by the storm Vaia, but also by the heavy snowfall last winter, we will reach the crossroads to reach, a little higher up, the summit of Monte Zovo from where we can sweep over and admire an incredible panorama. We can see Mount Peralba and catch a glimpse of part of Sappada, the Brentoni and the Sexten Dolomites, we can see Casamazzagno and the entire coastline of the spina with the Quaternà, the Longerin crags and much more.
We finally descend, returning to the previous fork in the road, towards Rifugio De Doo, passing the small kitchen where Pope John Paul II stopped.
After a well-deserved refreshment break at the Refuge, we descend along the asphalt road to Costa and continue on the left to take the Comelico Panoramica road, passing through Costa, Costalissaio and Costalta, where we make a small diversions to the road that climbs up towards Forcella Zovo to admire the beautiful barns, huts and wooden sculptures on display along the way. We also pass by the Casa Angiul Sai Ethnographic Museum.
Finally, we continue with a beautiful winding descent to San Pietro and reach Mare where we will rejoin the state road and, immediately after the bridge crossing the Piave River, our starting point.
