Pieve di Cadore Perarolo Caralte Ponte Tibetano
PIEVE PERAROLO CARALTE PONTE TIBETANO CASERA VAL MONTINA
Partendo da Pieve di Cadore raggiungiamo per la strada di Montericco la ciclabile delle Dolomiti e da qui ci immettiamo nella ciclovia dell’amicizia in direzione Belluno.
Superiamo Sottocastello passando di fronte al Chiesa di S.Lorenzo e arriviamo fin dove la strada passa sotto il ponte Cadore e subito dopo ci immettiamo nella antica strada della Cavallera che scende fino a Perarolo dove merita ammirare il Palazzo Lazzaris Costantini e il giardino della Regina Margherita, oltre che visitare il Museo del cidolo e del legname.
Riattraversiamo il ponte sul Boite e subito a destra quello sul Piave e risaliamo fino a Caralte.
Arrivando a Caralte troviamo il bellissimo Parco Avventura con anche un piccolo laghetto artificiale.
Proseguiamo lungo il paese, superando la piazza e raggiungiamo la zona sportiva da cui inizia la zona naturalistica caratterizzata da “I Suoni del Bosco”.
La percorriamo raggiungendo un’area aperta con il sasso detto della Regina poiché la Regina Margherita era solita sostarvi quando raggiungeva Perarolo per le vacanze estive.
Continuiamo la discesa fino alla zona artigianale di Perarolo. La attraversiamo e prendiamo una ripida ma breve salita che ci porta al ponte tibetano della Val Montina.
Lo attraversiamo guardando dritto davanti a noi se abbiamo paura del vuoto, perché la valle è ampia e profonda.
Dall’altra parte, dopo un centinaio di metri, saliamo a sinistra per raggiungere la casera Val Montina oggetto di una recentissima ristrutturazione ma non ancora aperta al pubblico.
Da qui inizia la Foresta Regionale Demaniale della Val Montina, Area Wilderness.
La Val Montina è una valle selvaggia ed impervia dominata ad occidente dalla dorsale del Monte Duranno (2652 m) e ad oriente da quella che parte da Cima dei frati (2355 m), facenti parte del sistema 4 "Dolomiti Friulane e d'oltre Piave" riconosciute dall'Unesco come Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Umanità.
Ritorniamo quindi fino al bivio e seguiamo a sinistra la strada sterrata da fare con un po’ di attenzione fino a raggiungere il ghiaione che arriva fino al Piave.
Troviamo quindi una stradina che risale fino a raggiungere la strada di Alemagna.
Dobbiamo attraversarla ma subito troviamo la strada che riporta alla zona artigianale di Perarolo. Da qui facciamo a ritroso il percorso dell’andata.
Raggiunta la parte pianeggiante più in alto. abbiamo esplorato la strada che fa parte della “Traversata del Cadore” che congiunge Caralte alla Diga a Sottocastello, oggetto di un intervento di miglioria.
La percorriamo nel tratto facilmente agibile con poca pendenza e fondo buono, sperando che presto possa divenire percorribile in bici su tutto il tratto fino alla Diga.
Ritorniamo a Caralte e da qui ritorniamo verso Pieve ridiscendendo a Perarolo e risalendo la Cavallera fino a Sottocastello e con una piccola variante fino a Pieve.
PIEVE PERAROLO CARALTE TIBETAN BRIDGE CASERA VAL MONTINA
Starting from Pieve di Cadore, we reach the Montericco road on the Dolomites cycle path and from here we join the Friendship cycle path in the direction of Belluno.
We pass Sottocastello passing in front of the Church of S. Lorenzo and arrive as far as where the road passes under the Cadore bridge and immediately afterwards we join the ancient Cavallera road which descends to Perarolo where it is worth admiring the Palazzo Lazzaris Costantini and the garden of Queen Margherita, as well as visiting the Museum of cidolo and timber.
We cross the bridge over the Boite again and immediately to the right the one over the Piave and climb up to Caralte.
Arriving in Caralte we find the beautiful Adventure Park with a small artificial lake.
We continue along the village, passing the square and reach the sports area from which the nature area characterised by ‘I Suoni del Bosco’ (The Sounds of the Forest) begins.
We walk along it, reaching an open area with the stone known as the ‘Queen's Stone’ because Queen Margherita used to stop there when she reached Perarolo for her summer holidays.
We continue our descent to the craft area of Perarolo. We cross it and take a steep but short climb that leads us to the Val Montina Tibetan bridge.
We cross it looking straight ahead if we are afraid of heights, because the valley is wide and deep.
On the other side, after about a hundred metres, we climb to the left to reach the Val Montina cheese factory, which was recently renovated but is not yet open to the public.
The Val Montina Regional State Forest, a Wilderness Area, begins here.
The Val Montina is a wild and impervious valley dominated to the west by the ridge of Monte Duranno (2652 m) and to the east by that starting from Cima dei frati (2355 m), part of the 4 ‘Friulian Dolomites and beyond Piave’ system recognised by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.
We then return to the junction and follow the dirt road to the left, taking care until we reach the scree that reaches the Piave River.
We then find a small road that climbs up to the Alemagna road.
We have to cross it but immediately find the road that leads back to the craft area of Perarolo. From here we retrace our outward journey.
Reaching the flat part further up, we explore the road that is part of the ‘Traversata del Cadore’ (Cadore Crossing), which connects Caralte to the dam at Sottocastello, which has undergone improvements.
We travel along it in the section that is easily accessible with little gradient and a good surface, hoping that it will soon become practicable by bicycle on the entire stretch as far as the Dam.
We return to Caralte and from here head back to Pieve, descending to Perarolo and ascending the Cavallera to Sottocastello and with a small variant to Pieve.
