VENAS DI CADORE MONTE RITE RIFUGIO DOLOMITES.
Partendo da Venas si percorre un breve tratto della Ciclabile delle Dolomiti fino ad incontrare la strada per Cibiana che non presenta una forte pressione di traffico. Si scende fino ad attraversare il ponte sul Boite e poi la strada comincia a salire fino a Cibiana. Superata Cibiana comincia la salita fino alla forcella Cibiana con pendenze abbastanza forti. Dal passo comincia la salita al Monte Rite su strada ex militare in parte asfaltata ed in parte sterrata ma con fondo buono e leggere pendenze.
Si supera una galleria scarsamente illuminata e troviamo una casermetta dove si svolge una Biennale d’arte. Si prosegue e arriviamo a Forcella Deona.
L’ultimo breve tratto di salita ci porta al Rifugio Dolomites, superando la piazzola dove arriva il servizio di navette, uniche auto autorizzate a percorrere il tratto di strada dal Passo Cibiana.
Svoltiamo a sinistra e con 2 tornanti arriviamo al Forte ristrutturato che ospita il “Museo nelle nuvole” di Messner.
Saliamo pochi metri e siamo sopra il Forte, in cima al Mone Rite (2181 m), da cui si apre un panorama a 360° sulle più belle vette dolomitiche riconosciute dall'Unesco come Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Umanità.
La vista si apre verso la Val Boite fino a Cortina, verso la Valle Zoldana, e spostandoci poi verso est, fino al Centro Cadore.
Scendiamo nuovamente, con attenzione visto il fondo sassoso , fino al Rifugio Dolomites e poi ripercorriamo la lunga discesa fino al Passo Cibiana con il Rifugio Remauro e la Baita Deona.
La veloce discesa su strada aperta al traffico ci riporta a Cibiana e qui deviamo per scendere verso Cibiana di sotto e Masarie’ e visitare i famosi Murales, gli affreschi presenti sulle antiche case di sasso e legno.
Proseguiamo la discesa fino al ponte sul Boite e risaliamo per raggiungere la Ciclabile delle dolomiti e tornare al punto di partenza dove possiamo approfittare dell’accoglienza di Villa Gaia, prossima al parcheggio.
VENAS DI CADORE MONTE RITE DOLOMITES REFUGE.
Starting from Venas, we travel along a short section of the Dolomites cycle path until we come to the road to Cibiana, which does not have much traffic pressure. We descend until we cross the bridge over the Boite and then the road begins to climb to Cibiana. Once past Cibiana, the climb up to the Forcella Cibiana pass begins, with fairly steep gradients. From the pass, the climb to Monte Rite begins on an ex-military road that is almost all dirt but has a good surface and slight gradients.
We pass a poorly lit tunnel and find a small barracks where an art biennial is being held. We continue on and arrive at Forcella Deona.
The last short uphill stretch takes us to the Dolomites Refuge, passing the lay-by where the shuttle bus service arrives, the only cars authorised to travel the stretch of road from the Cibiana Pass.
We turn left and with two hairpin bends arrive at the renovated Fortress, which houses Messner's ‘Museum in the Clouds’.
We climb just a few metres and we are above the Fortress, at the top of Mone Rite (2181 m), from which there is a 360° panorama of the most beautiful Dolomite peaks, recognised by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.
The view opens up towards the Boite Valley as far as Cortina, towards the Zoldana Valley, and then moving eastwards to the Centro Cadore.
We descend again, carefully because of the stony terrain, to the Dolomites Refuge and then retrace our long, unpaved descent to the Cibiana Pass with the Remauro Refuge and Baita Deona.
The fast descent on a road open to traffic takes us back to Cibiana and here we turn to descend towards Cibiana di Sotto and Masarie' and visit the famous Murales, the frescoes on the old stone and wooden houses.
We continue our descent as far as the bridge over the Boite and ascend again to reach the Dolomites cycle path and return to our starting point where we can take advantage of the hospitality of Villa Gaia, close to the car park.
